Troy Hill, Mayor Leander Texas
Leander - Overview

Introducing Mayor of Leander -  Troy Hill

I grew up in Central Texas in Temple, the youngest of 5 kids to a Mechanic and devoted housewife. I graduated from Southwest Texas with a degree in City Planning and Public Administration. I wanted to take a year off before grad school, so I moved to Chicago to take a sales job in the office products industry which led me to move to Houston, where I met a beautiful flight attendant and married her. After seeing the world, we moved to Flower Mound in the Dallas area, where we had 4 kids. There I began civic work, first as HOA President, and as a Precinct chair. Family moved us to Leander in 2005, and in 2013 I volunteered for the Economic Development Committee, which led to running for council, serving 3 years, and this year to running for and being elected Mayor.

Background Information

As a college student, Troy Hill knew that he wanted to be actively engaged in public service and community development.  He earned a double degree in Urban & Regional Planning and Public Administration from Texas State University.  His education prepared him well for the positions he took on in the DFW area, serving as an HOA Manager and a president of a political club in Flower Mound and as a Precinct Chair in Denton County.

Wanting to be nearer to his parents, he and his wife, Sally, were drawn to Leander.  They loved the beauty of the Hill Country, saw this as the environment they desired for their young family and moved in 2005. They were impressed with the Leander schools and their four children have all attended Leander ISD schools.  Sally is the Principal at a LISD school.

Troy has a vision of all that Leander can become: a great city with well-planned, managed growth offering value and services to fellow residents without taxing the infrastructure or creating strain on existing resources.  He began working for the community through the Leander Charter Review Commission and the Leander Economic Development Committee.  He has served as Leander City Council Member, Place 6, for nearly 3 years and is also active with the Texas Economic Development Council and the Leander Advocacy Group, which he helped found.

His field of study combined with his extensive travel to every major city in the US has given Troy a qualified perspective on how to manage responsible growth in Leander.  His term as City Council Member coupled with his lengthy career in sales and technology, certifies Troy as the best choice for Mayor.  He intends to deliver his vision that “our best days are ahead of us”.  “There can be no growth without change. I stand ready to deliver a better Leander for all our citizens.”
