Llyas Salahud-din - Make A Wish Foundation Apr 03, 2019
Overiew of Make A Wish Foundation

Llyas Salahud-din is the Director of Development for Make-A-Wish Central and South Texas where he manages the relationships of the most generous donors and stakeholders.  In addition, Llyas is responsible for implementing new sustainability strategies that will complement the chapters campaign to serve 550 wishes by 2025.

After being recruited to Austin in 2011, Llyas became known for his ability to inspire others through cross-sector collaborative change and being an extended voice for others who have faced the most unimaginable circumstances.

Llyas has a Master’s in Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management. He is a 2017 Austin Area Research Organization (AARO) McBee Fellow, and a volunteer at Texas Empowerment Academy. Llyas is also a Founding Board member of The New Philanthropists(TNP)a local charity that addresses the leadership gap that exists in Austin for people of color.  Its mission is to build a more diverse and inclusive nonprofit board pipeline in Central Texas.  Llyas provides fundraising strategies, and manages the development of its matchmaking application.

Llyas is a 2013 Leadership Austin Essential graduate and recently received The Leadership Austin Ascendant award for demonstrating community leadership in a manner that exhibits the honoree’s commitment to the core values of Leadership Austin: Community Trusteeship, Inclusiveness, Collaborative Decision-Making and Personal Responsibility.

Llyas passion for philanthropy stems from successfully aging out of the foster care system, at a children’s home where he lived among 200 youth for 15 years. The Children’s Home was a safe place.  It provided Llyas with stimulating wraparound services that gave him the runway, and mindset to be self-sufficient. Llyas believes his “paying it forward” drive is an inspiration from his foster mother who worked at the Children’s home and raised over 53 foster boys over her lifetime.
